Soulful Serenity In Aurovillage, Pondicherry

Pondicherry's Whispering Winds

Known as the “French Capital of India,” the small former trading French trading enclave of Pondicherry is located on the southwestern coast of India.

Facing the vast blue Indian Ocean, Pondicherry (also known as Puducherry) is famous for its gorgeous golden-sand beaches, world-class retreats and hotels, lip-smacking Indo-French fusion cuisine, churches, temples, and laidback tropical beach vibes.

But one of the most important that draws tens of thousands of international visitors and tourists to this part of India is the tiny experimental spirituality-inspired town of Auroville.

Located some 6 miles outside of the city center of Pondicherry, on the border with the state of Tamil Nadu, Auroville is a homage to the great Indian spiritual guru and sage Sri Aurobindo (1872-1950).
