Unveiling Jaipur's City Palace Treasures
Home of the royal family of Jaipur, the City Palace located within the walled city of Jaipur is a jewel in the crown of Jaipur.
Built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in the 1720s AD, it is the most important palace in a region full of palaces. Combining Rajput building tradition with the Indo-Saracen architectural style of the Mughals, the Palace comprises 9 blocks that surround the main complex and houses beautiful pavilions, museums and fabulous artwork.
One block now houses the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum. The Jantar Mantar Astronomical Observatory and Hawa Mahal are located right across the main complex.
