Jaipur Sightseeing | Amber Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Jal Mahal
Early next morning, you will set out for the city of Amber, which lies just outside of Jaipur. It was the previous capital of the Kingdom until it was abandoned due to shortage of water and bulging population. The Amber Fort, a magnificent fort residence, was the center of power of the Kingdom.
Your next stop, Jaigarh Fort, Jaipur’s other key fort, teams up with Amber and Nahargarh to form a ring of defense around the city.
You’ll end your day with a visit to the Jal Mahal (Jal meaning water). Nestled in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake, the Jal Mahal (Water Palace) was built in 1699 as a royal retreat by Maharaja Jai Singh II. It is stunningly beautiful.
Day
Jaipur | A Day with the Gentle Giants at Elephant Village
For centuries elephants have played a pivotal part in Rajasthan. They’ve been used in wars as cavalry, as rides for the royalty and nobility, as central figures in religious processions, and as workers accomplishing great feats of power.
The Elephant Village is a sanctuary built by the Rajasthan government that is home to many elephants. It provides shelter, food, and care to these animals. In our ethical tour, you’ll spend a day with these gentle giants getting to know them through activities like bathing the elephants, painting, and feeding.
Day
Jaipur | City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Bazaars
After breakfast, you will start your tour of the City Palace Complex, the pride of Jaipur. Completed in 1732 AD, the royal residence of the Maharaja is a fine blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture. Inside the main complex, there are several mini palaces and temples like the Chandra Mahal, Pritam Niwas, Diwaan-i-Aam, Mubarak Mahal, Clock Tower, and Sileh Khana (Armour Gallery).
Afterwards, you will visit the Jantar Mantar Astronomical Observatory which lies right outside the complex and was commissioned by Maharaja Jai Singh. This UNESCO World Heritage Site houses the world’s largest sundial stone.
You will end the day with a tour of the old bazaars of Jaipur—Johari (jewelry bazar) Tripolia (bangles) bazar, and Chandpol (handicrafts).
Day
Morning Jhalana Leopard Safari | Evening Village Tour Bagru
Leopards have prowled the land of Rajasthan for as long as history. The Jhalana Leopard Leopard Reserve (15 min drive from the city center) is your chance to see these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. The Leopard Safari Park is home to 30-35 leopards.
After the morning safari at Jhalana, you’ll visit the nearby village of Bhagru which is famous for its wooden-block printing, using fine locally-grown cotton clothes.
