The Maharajas’ Express

The Maharajas’ Express was launched in 2010 by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation to provide a super luxury train travel experience that rivals the Palace on the Wheels.

While the latter serves mostly the Golden Triangle region (Delhi, Agra, Rajasthan), the Maharajas’ Express covers a broader range of landmarks and tourist attractions in Central and North-West India.

Many who have travelled on the Maharajas’ Express would say it tops the Palace on the Wheels by a country mile! Why? Because it has won the “The World’s Leading Luxury Train” Award a whopping seven consecutive times (from 2012 to 2018). It has also won the Conde Nast Travelers’ “Reader Choice Travel Award” on numerous occasions.

So what makes the Maharajas’ Express so special?

The Maharajas’ Express is a step back in time, into a bygone era of royal splendor —an era of royal caravans and entourage. You get a glimpse into how the royalty lived and travelled.
