Palace On The Wheels

Launched in 1982 by the Indian Railways in tandem with the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC), the Palace on Wheels is India’s first luxury train service. All these years later, it still remains one of India’s finest rides that has set the bench for luxury train travel in India.

The concept of Palace on Wheels is inspired by the royal train caravans of the princely states of Rajputana (RAJASTHAN), the Nizam of Hyderabad and the Viceroy of British India. Palace on Wheels is, therefore, an opulent and posh royal affair.

If you ever wondered how the Maharajas of India lived and travelled, and wished you could live and travel like one, the Palace on the Wheel is the place to be to get a real-life glimpse of the Maharaja’s way of life.

Aboard the Palace on Wheels, you will find utterly luxurious royal suites, specialty restaurants, personal butlers, cafes, lounges, bars, spas and unmatched regal service.

Each carriage of this luxury train is named after a royal palace or iconic fort in the land of Kings, Rajasthan.
